The Labyrinth

I got the Peace Globe out in time for the 2023 Blog4Peace, but I didn't get the blog out. It is always the time to blog for peace, so I'm better late than never.

Walk in peace. Go in peace. Give us peace.

I chose the Labyrinth as the image for walking in peace, because the Labyrinth is a very good way to find peace in your walk. And if we find peace in our walk, it will sink into our heart. And if it sinks into our heart, it will leak into the world.

A Labyrinth is a really cool thing. It is not a maze, no matter what the Minotaur believed. There is only one path. You can't get lost. It is a winding path, it goes back and forth and around. You might not be sure you will make it to the center, but if you just keep walking you will.

While walking the Labyrinth, I ponder. I don't follow rules or say a rosary, although there's no reason not to. I like to walk them alone, but it's also fun to dance them with friends. There may be less pondering and more laughing, but that's cool too. Laughter is peace.

There are more Labyrinths than you may realize. Here in Columbia, SC, there is one at Maxcy Gregg park downtown. It honors those who have survived cancer. There is one at a local school. I think there are some at some churches.

But if you cannot find a Labyrinth to walk, just walk in a circle or a spiral. It's the same thing to your peaceful heart. There is no destination. There are no tricks. Just Walk and Ponder and Pray and Laugh.
